Team Xbox Previews Mass Effect
Published by Hexadecimal on September 17, 2007
Recently, Team Xbox have taken the time to provide a nice, in depth preview of the sexiness that is Mass Effect as experienced through their hands on time with the game. They gush about the character creation, dialogue, combat and Achievements.
Also, we spent some time with the Galactic Codex, which is a gigantic reference system BioWare included in the game. As you meet up with new characters or find yourself in unknown situations, you’ll be prompted to open up the guide to see what new entries have appeared—which will likely educate you as to what you’re facing and why. It’s a nice multimedia encyclopedia that you can bring up as you need it for background info. Your reference section also spells out what your current goals are and what you need to complete them.
We also took a peek at the achievements list, which indicates that you’ll need to play through the game a couple of times to pull down a few of the awards. As you’d expect, there are points for getting past certain sections of the game, but we also found some stat-based milestones, with a few of them being rung up for accomplishing a certain number of kills with a specific weapon.
