The PC Version of Mass Effect has been receiving high review scores from many gaming sites and publications. It is so far averaging 93/100 on game score average website Metacritic. Which is actually 2 points higher than the Xbox 360 version so far after 11 reviews, not that such a small margin really matters however. A score that Bioware have got to be proud of and well worth the effort and hard work they put into creating it.

PC Zone - 92/100
Videogamer - 10/10
IGN - 9.2/10

That’s right! Mass Effect X has finally reached the 2.0 mark and is currently sporting a brand new look. Gone are the old, primitive graphics and code which made up Mass Effect X 1.0. With the new Mass Effect X 2.0 look comes completely re-worked code - which has been almost completely re-written from the ground up to be as thoroughly optimized as possible. The same goes for the Mass Effect Forum.

You might also find that Mass Effect X 2.0 loads a heck of a lot faster, too, now that all graphics and multimedia files have been tweaked and fine tuned to not only make less of an impact on our server, but also to ensure that each page loads almost immediately. I will say this: Gzip is an absolute gem!

A ton of redundant WordPress plugins have also been removed, too, in order to help pave the way for optimal website performance. We’ve also replaced the rather resource-heavy Lightbox JS (link) plugin with the much more compact Litebox plugin - which is now powering our Mass Effect Gallery. The difference between Lightbox and Litebox goes far deeper than just a different spelling, believe me.

Mass Effect X isn’t the only one to receive a makeover, either, virtually all blogs under the network have been tidied up; devilmaycry.org, projectego.net, residentevilnews.com, to name just a few. Next up is assassinscreedx.com!

CVG have recently done their review for the PC adaptation of the console sci-fi epic of Biowares Mass Effect. They have rated it a very respectable 9.2/10 and said the following…

If you have the Xbox 360 version of Mass Effect, you’re in a pickle. On the one hand, there’s nothing truly new here. On the other hand, playing the game on a mouse and keyboard is like playing a brand-new game. Unlike its console predecessor, the PC version makes combat exciting and fun, depending less on auto aim and more on real skill.

After two playthroughs on the 360 and a third on the PC, I can honestly say that this is how the game was meant to be played, and the experience is incredibly refreshing. If you’ve never played the game before, then this is an unequivocal must-buy. If you have, and the money’s knocking about - then you still might be interested in playing the definitive Mass Effect

At a recent EA Spring Break event in San Francisco, California IGN got talking to Bioware co-founder and general manager Ray Muzyka about Mass Effect PC and upcoming PC role-playing game Dragon Age.

Dragon Age has been in development for a while. Part of that is BioWare’s attention to quality and detail and making this rich universe that you want to be part of. Dragon Age is in BioWare’s sweet spot; it’s the ultimate fantasy-adventure. It’s going to appeal to the fans of Baldur’s Gate and Neverwinter Nights and it’s sort of the next generation of that…We haven’t talked about it recently because we’re just building up to something hopefully in the near future…I was just playing it last week and it’s pretty damn cool.

Plastered across this very page you’ll see brand new screenshots from the PC version of Mass Effect, BioWare’s sci-fi RPG that got a big round of applause when it landed on Xbox 360 last year.

As it’s BioWare, the PC version is more than just a port of Mass Effect on Xbox 360. On top of prettier graphics, the latest outing for the RPG features the likes of individual squad command and optional less dipping into menus to add pace to the action sequences.

And then there’s the fact that Bring Down the Sky, the download content released for the Xbox 360 version, will be available to download for free for PC Mass Effect on launch day - which is June 6 here in the UK.

Anyway, enjoy the screenshots and look out for a review near release time.

Bioware have recently released some information regarding the PC version of the DLC package for Mass Effect Bring Down the Sky. Suggesting it will be available from launch day of the PC version and also be free but for registered BioWare community member only.

It’ll be available on launch day - May 28 in North America, June 6 in Europe - but you’ll need to be a registered BioWare community member to get it.

Bring Down the Sky’s already available for the Xbox 360 version of the sci-fi RPG, but it costs £3.40 through Xbox Live Marketplace.

The content is the first in a number of planned downloads for the game that’ll expand your Mass Effect experience.

Bring Down the Sky features a new mission on a renegade asteroid which makes up for around 90 minutes of additional gameplay.

A Batarian extremist group has hijacked a mobile asteroid station in the Asgard system, setting it on a collision course with the nearby colony world of Terra Nova. Commander Shepard has to save the millions of innocent civilians before the asteroid hits.
