Published by Dark Drakan on October 22, 2008 Comments

After many months of speculation and rumours the not so secret Star Wars MMO that LucasArts and Bioware have been working on has been revealed. The story-driven massively multiplayer online PC game is set in the timeframe of the Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic franchise.

For a long time, we’ve wanted to return to the franchise in a grand way, and we felt that the best setting for it was an online world that would allow millions of people to participate in the experience together. We knew that the developer capable of working with us to deliver an engrossing story with a fully-realized online world was BioWare.

Mass Effect Movie Rumours

Published by Dark Drakan on September 21, 2008 Comments

According to Variety’s Cut Scene blog the rights to Biowares award winning sci-fi RPG series have been snapped up by ex-Marvel Movie boss Avi Arad, who’s since left the Comic giant to set-up his own production company.

Good news if you consider he’s contributed in bringing Spider-Man, X-Men and Iron Man to the big screen, bad if you remember Elektra, Ghost Rider and so-so Spider-Man 3.

Arad is also working on getting a big-screen adaptation of Capcom’s Lost Planet to the big screen.

It’s all one big no-brainer then. Mass Effect’s got a large game community following, rich cast of protagonists, baddies and love interests, plus the story’s been fleshed out enough to fill two books (not that we’ve read them, cough).

Arad is now said to be looking for writers, a director and a studio to attach to the Mass Effect movie. Limbo for a few years it is then…

Greg Zeschuk Speaks Dragon Age On Consoles

Published by Dark Drakan on August 5, 2008 Comments

Bioware co-founder Greg Zeschuk has recently been speaking about consoles seeing something of the Dragon Age franchise at some point

Any time we undertake something we have a goal of creating franchises. PC for now is what we’re focusing on, but there is a console future for the franchise.

One thing we’re focused on, as folks probably have seen in regards to ‘Mass Effect’ on the PC, is whenever we do a platform choice, we’re very definitive and very specific.

We don’t splash it across all the platforms. Like in the case with ‘Mass’ PC we worked really hard to make it even better than the console version. The PC gives us more tools to do that with. That’s the approach we’re taking with ‘Dragon Age’ and other games at BioWare..
